AIM Engages with Maharashtra Agriculture Minister on Key Agro Industry Issues
The Agro Inputs Manufacturers Association’s (AIM) delegation comprising of President Rajkumar Dhurgude, Secretary Sameer Pathare & Treasurer Sarjerao Shisode held a pivotal meeting with the Hon Minister of Agriculture, Government of Maharashtra, at Sahyadri State House, Mumbai, on January 29, 2025. The discussion addressed critical concerns, including the linking of biostimulants & micronutrients with NPK fertilizers, challenges surrounding and sample analysis issues.
Rajkumar Dhurgude, President of AIM, highlighted the need for clear and practical guidelines regarding the sale of biostimulants post the expiration of Form G2 and G3 validity on 22nd February 2025. He also emphasized the urgent requirement for appointing expert technical staff in laboratories and providing adequate training to ensure accurate sample analysis. His fearless remarks on corruption within the agriculture department were a key highlight, as he condemned the sale of spurious products due to inspector malpractice, stating that such unethical activities cheat farmers for meager bribes.
AIM Secretary Sameer Pathare raised concerns about fraudulent agricultural consultants who misguide farmers. He recommended establishing a registration system for consultants based on their educational background, experience, and skills.
On Linking issue he stressed that such practices are also ending business prospects of small companies who manufacture such products which are linked by big Companies with NPK fertilizers.
The meeting also addressed the challenges related to linking biostimulants with NPK fertilizers and the operational hurdles caused by frequent inspector visits, which impede the Ease of Doing Business for manufacturers.
The Hon Agriculture Minister assured AIM of stringent action against unethical practices, including the improper tagging of subsidized fertilizers with Biostimulants & micro-nutrients and specialty products. He stressed that companies and dealers must cease such activities immediately or face strict consequences.
He also promised improvements in laboratory analysis procedures, potentially with support from the Central Government. Furthermore, he instructed officials to prioritize the registration of agricultural consultants, even suggesting the introduction of new state-level legislation in the interest of the farming community.
AIM appreciates the Hon Minister’ openness to these crucial discussions and remains committed to collaborating with the government to implement policies that support innovation, enhance soil health, and empower Maharashtra’s farming sector.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the AIM delegation formally invited the Hon Agriculture Minister to the AIM B2B Conclave 2025 as the Chief Guest.
